GEIGER presents an intelligent compact motor for narrow roller shutters

Drive with short design for hangings from 370 millimetres: based on the proven GJ56 blind motor, GEIGER developed the ultra-compact XS56 SoftPerfection-X01 roller shutter drive.

The specialist for sun protection drives brings proven technologies into an extremely compact housing for roller shutters with a width of 370 millimetres or more.

The smallest drive from Bietigheim-Bissingen to date measures just 317 millimetres in length with a diameter of 55 millimetres. It has been specially developed for narrow roller shutters and replaces cranks and belts. The intelligently controlled motor can be easily put into operation via Plug & Play. Equipped with stoppers and an anti-lift device, it automatically detects the end positions. Obstacle and blocking detection prevent any damage and help to protect the shutter.

"The new XS56 is the latest variant of our GJ56 drive, which has proven itself millions of times over," explains Marinus van Dam, Segment Manager of the Electric Drive Systems at GEIGER. "We have now succeeded in fitting the motor and all components very compactly into a short housing. All elements are perfectly matched to ensure smooth running and a long service life." The motor with a torque of 6 Nm and a speed of 26 rpm is optimised for common star-shaped fastening systems and can therefore be widely used.

The control system has been adapted from the SOLIDline tubular motor and allows the XS56 SoftPerfection-X01 to be installed and operated quickly and easily. The end positions are detected automatically. Time-consuming adjustment work is no longer necessary and the shutter is now softly stopped before reaching the end positions in order to protect the materials. Every 50 cycles, the shutter is automatically referenced and, if necessary, corrected. Obstacles during extension or malfunctions during retraction, for example due to freezing, are also detected and the motor is stopped, adds Dr. Jens Hoche, Global Director Sales & Marketing at GEIGER.

With the help of the intelligently controlled motor, not only the system with the shutter is protected. The anti-lift devices also help to protect the building against burglary. The 1,5 kg drive is suitable for roller shutters with 60 mm 8-sided shafts from 370 mm in length.
The XS56 SoftPerfection-X01 was presented for the first time at the GEIGER stand during VETECO, the leading Spanish trade fair for the window, façade and sun protection industry in Madrid.
